It isn't often that we are all in the same city at the same time so to celebrate the fact that we were we had friends over for a cookout. It was soccer tryout night so different people came at different times and we enjoyed seeing some great friends. The food was great, we played cornhole, we got caught up on each others lives and celebrated! The weather was not terribly hot, the sky was blue and we had shade in the back yard. After it got dark, the kids chased fireflies.

Sarah's Bacherlorette Night
Sarah was home for only one week this summer and we made the most of her time here with us. Emily put together a night out for Sarah in celebration of the wedding in August (in Alabama). The girls got together on a Monday night and had a great dinner at Don Pablos. The girls all missed Chelsea (California) and the only other damper on the evening was that Sarah lost her driver's license. It was a bit of a rush to get it replaced in time to use as ID for boarding her plane back to San Diego!

Indianapolis 500
I hadn't been to the race in a few years and when my friend Neil got free tickets, I thought it would be fun to give it another go. The seats were up high in the straightaway between turns 4 and 1 and even better, they were the last row so our backs were against a chain link fence where we could feel a little breeze! Good thing too, as this years race was the hottest on record, with the temperature reaching 96 degrees!

Liberty Plaza
I attended the Fishers Memorial Day service this year at town hall. The Liberty Plaza project was again represented and this year given a boost by two young men's fund raising efforts within HSE schools. I purchased a brick in honor of John (did so for Elliott last year). They have broken ground on the monument and continue their fund-raising efforts in order to be able to complete it. Total cost is expected to be $350,000.
There is an explanation and a video explaining the project here.
